We love food.

Our meatballs are a classic that most Stockholmers know and enjoyed at some point. Fried herring with mashed potatoes have been on the menu since Tranan first opened. Today´s meny changes with the seasons, offering excellent comfort food suited to passers-by and big family dinners alike.

WINE

At Tranan we like wine!

We like everything that is well-made with a lot of soul and heart, although we think a little extra about the classic wine-growing regions and regions such as Burgundy in France and Piedmont in Italy.

Best ones are where the nature of the vineyard is protected and with as little as possible add-ons in the production, preferably nothing! Therefore, we buy many biodynamic wines and wines from producers working according to the Vin Natures principles. Of course, the wine must first and foremost be well-made and good, but it’s a big plus if it’s also environment-friendly and natural!

THE BAR

Already in the 1930s, regulars called Tranan “the club”. When the cellar space first opened in 1929, it was a fine dining room with soft carpets and a trio with cello, piano, and violin entertaining the guests. After WW2, as the ongoing tunnel construction made Odenplan a place people mostly rushed past, the dining room closed again. Over the following decades, the basement served as both a seed shop and a furniture store finally being reintegrated into the restaurant in the 1980s.

The music tradition in the basement has stayed alive. Artists who have performed in Tranan´s bar include Tom Waits, Lloyd Cole, Lyle Lovett, Digital Underground (with a young Tupac Shakur), A Tribe Called Quest, Craig David and A Camp.

ABOUT TRANAN

A place to meet, share a meal, and enjoy a drink –  that is how Stockholmers have experienced Tranan since 1929 and still do today, over 90 years on. Open seven days a week.

Excellent DJs on rotation, regular live gigs, and above all, a bar you can always count on for great drinks and food. Tranan Bar stays open every dag until 01:00

Come by to just hang out and indulge in wine, stop in after work with friends, bring the whole family, or snag a spot at the evening wine tastings. Grus Grus is open six days a week.

Grus Grus Wine Bar is right next to Tranan, where sommelier Patricia Dominguez and the chef Fredrika Åström work with well crafted seasonal food and selected wines in a relaxed atmosphere.

The seating time is 1.5 hours when you book online for lunch
Seating time is 2 hours when booking online for dinner

As we are a small restaurant, we unfortunately can not bring dogs or strollers inside the restaurant.

If you do not receive a booking confirmation, the booking has not been reviewed.

We do not accept groups larger than 10.
