We love food.

Our meatballs are a classic that most Stockholmers know and enjoyed at some moment. Also the fried herring with mashed potatos have been on the menu since Tranan opened. The menu today varies according to the seasons to create really good comfort food for both the passers-by or a whole family dinner.

WINE

At Tranan we like wine!

We like everything that is well-made with a lot of soul and heart, although we think a little extra about the classic wine-growing regions and regions such as Burgundy in France and Piedmont in Italy.

Best ones are where the nature of the vineyard is protected and with as little as possible add-ons in the production, preferably nothing! Therefore, we buy many biodynamic wines and wines from producers working according to the Vin Natures principles. Of course, the wine must first and foremost be well-made and good, but it’s a big plus if it’s also environment-friendly and natural!

THE BAR

Already in the thirties, regulars called Tranan for the ”club”. At the start of 1929, today’s cellar bar was a fine dining room with soft carpets and a trio with cello, piano and violin that entertained guests with music. After the Second World War, when an extended tunnel construction made Odenplan a place most rushed past, the dining room was closed again. Until the 80’s it had already been a seed and a furniture store in the basement before it was again incorporated with the restaurant.

The tradition of music in the basement has been kept alive. Among the artists who gave concerts down in Tranan’s bar are Tom Waits, Lloyd Cole, Lyle Lovett, Digital Underground (with a young Tupac Shakur), A Tribe Called Quest, Craig David and A Camp.

ABOUT TRANAN

A place to meet, to eat a meal and have a glass. That is how Stockholmers have perceived Tranan since 1929 and still do it today, over 80 years later. Tranan has been open seven days a week and has been at the same address, Karlbergsvägen 14, through all these years.

As we are a small restaurant, we unfortunately can not bring dogs or strollers inside the restaurant.

If you do not receive a booking confirmation, the booking has not been reviewed.

We do not accept groups larger than 10.
